IP65 standard

Product manufacturing and development standards hold significant importance across various industries and scientific fields, as they establish a unified framework and criteria for assessing product quality.

The IP rating serves as a classification system for electrical enclosures, evaluating their effectiveness in safeguarding equipment against the intrusion of liquids and solid particles, including water and dust.

In this standard, IP stands for Ingress Protection, meaning the level of protection against the entry of materials that were previously introduced. The two subsequent numbers indicate the product’s strength:

  • The first number can range from 0 to 6, where 6 signifies maximum protection against dust and solids.
  • The second number ranges from 0 to 8 and measures resistance to liquids, with higher numbers indicating better protection.

This classification helps in assessing how effectively a product safeguards against both solids and liquids.

First digit of protection level

The second digit of protection level

6- Complete protection against contact with electrically charged or moving parts of the device. The openings allowing dust entry into the device are not fully sealed, However, the dust that enters the device does not disrupt the internal system or its functionality.

5- The device is protected against water sprays with pressure from any direction under specified conditions, posing no serious risk to the device.
